As with their drivers, TaylorMade are focusing on both ball-speed and
optimisation to make their 2010 irons the best ever. Progressive face
technology is the main feature of the R9 and R9TP sets, while the Burner
09 focuses on speed, and the Burner SuperLaunch on high-launching
forgiveness.
Irons- R9 – a velocity-control
chamber in 3 - 6-irons provides increased consistency, ball speed and
power, while the innovative shock-absorption system in the 3 - 6 irons
creates satisfying feel and sound. A deep undercut cavity and heel-toe
weighting in short-irons offers increased forgiveness and the beveled
sole in every iron reduces turf resistance and promotes crisp contact.
- R9 TP – Comes with a classic player's shape and size with new
hosel-blend, plus a velocity-control chamber in the 2 - 5-irons.
Progressive changes in head construction and face thickness from
short-irons to long-irons, providing the perfect balance of control in
the shorter irons through to optimum distance in the longer irons.
- Burner 09 – TaylorMade’s improved SuperFast Technology incorporates
progressive COR, MOI and shaft length, plus ultra-light shafts and grips
reduce overall club weight and increase speed, to generate meaningful
distance. A multi-functional sole with beveled edges reduces turf
resistance to deliver maximum force to the ball at impact, while
inverted cone technology expands the area on the clubface that delivers
higher ball speed, resulting in more consistent distance from shot to
shot. Finally, progressive face thickness and head shape and size make
every Burner iron uniquely powerful. COR and MOI have been optimized in
every iron.
- Burner SuperLaunch and Burner Superlaunch for Women – these
forgiving irons, ideal for game improvers, have an ultra-large and deep
cavity for massive perimeter-weighting, and are super-forgiving on all
mis-hits – toe, heel, high and low. The low-profile long-iron design
contributes to high MOI and low CG, making them easy to launch, while
the extra-wide, multi-functional sole promotes an ultra-low CG, making
it easy to launch the ball high off the ground. Inverted cone technology
promotes faster ball speed on mis-hits for consistent distance and the
new TaylorMade 2010 grooves conform to the R&A’s latest ruling.
